Never give cold water to pigs in midsummer

During the summer, high temperatures are approaching and the pigs are often hot and gasp. Some farmers worry that pigs will develop heat problems and will pour cold water on the pigs. They want to cool them down and make the pigs feel more comfortable. They do not know that doing so is harmful.

The pig's hot panting is caused by its poor perspiration and the fact that the body's heat is not emitted. If cold water is given to the pig at this time, due to the intense cold stimulation, the sweat pores of the pig's body are rapidly contracted, and the body's heat is blocked and the body temperature suddenly rises. If the temperature is high, the pig has a high fever and inflammation of the lungs. Therefore, midsummer must not use the method of pouring cold water to pigs to cool pigs.

If the weather is hot and you really need to cool the pigs, you can rush the pigs to a cool, ventilated place and then pour some cold water onto the floor (preferably a clean concrete floor) so that the pigs can rest on their feet and rest in the pigsty. A pit was dug in the pit and wells were filled with cool well water for pigs to “mud”. This will not make the pigs suffer from heat stroke, and it will not cause the pigs to become ill due to improper cooling.
