Breeding techniques and cultivation management of green seedlings

桫椤 Introduction

Cockroaches are fern spore plants, also known as black cypress, tree fern, keel wind, pen tree, etc., are the only existing woody ferns. With a history of more than 300 million years, it is a first-level key protected plant. It is the main food for ancient herbivorous dinosaurs, and it is also a "living fossil" for the study of paleontology, paleogeography and ancient climate. Its beautiful tree shape, Ye Rufeng, some alone into a tree, and some two or three strains together grow, prosperous, cover the sun, can form a magnificent landscape.

Ecological habits

桫椤 Suitable for growing in a relatively humid place or near the water's edge. It is naturally grown in a shaded environment with altitudes of 250 to 1200 meters above sea level, high humidity and semi-yin and yang. The suitable soil is acidic sandy soil.

Breeding method

The author adopted the "Manual Rapid Propagation Technology" and achieved good results. The dragonfly grows all year round. Its lateral branches are long and lush, and they are evergreen. However, what really formed seeds (spores) was the first new shoots that grew in March each year.

At the same time as the lateral branches elongate, the small leaves on the back of the leaves and the two sides of the cross bar can grow green grain-sized spore particles. Over time, the spore particles changed from gray to green. In early June, the spores gradually turned yellow. When the spore particles change from yellow to black-yellow in late August, it means that the spore particles have reached the optimal time for maturation.

From a mature mother tree, 30 to 50 grams of sexual spores can be collected, the rest being yellow powder. Specific technical points mainly include the following:

Seed collecting

After observing the maturation of the spores, a cloudy day must be selected. The small leaves on both sides of the side branches should be cut off at the mother tree, and dried leaves should be dried to separate the spores from the leaves. The leaves and spores were then placed in a sieve to screen spore particles and black-yellow powder, and the black-yellow powder and spore particles were stored together for use.

Sowing time

The ground temperature can be sown above 10°C, and the optimum sowing temperature is 20°C to 25°C.

Seeding method

Artificial spreading can be used to minimize the sowing height when sowing. Do not spread too high or too fast and affect the growth of spores.
