Turtle Growth and Water Temperature

The turtle is a small animal that is used to nourish food, treat diseases with medicine, and enjoy fun. Therefore, the turtle is welcomed and loved by people. Its value has also increased year by year. At present, there is a growing number of farmers, animal husbandry and specialized households raising turtles. This is a very good thing. After the beginning of spring, the weather gradually warmed and the turtle gradually revived from hibernation to start growth and reproduction. The practice of raising turtles proves that the growth of turtles has a direct relationship with water temperature. So, at what temperature does it grow fastest? Researchers at the leading museum of amphibians and reptiles in Haining City, Zhejiang province, reared adult turtles and hatchlings at 23°C, 26°C, 29°C, 32°C, and 35°C for 30 days, and the results showed that; Adult turtles (male) showed significant weight gain at 23°C to 26°C, with the fastest growth at 23°C, followed by 26°C, and worst at 35°C. Adult turtles (females) had significant weight gain at 23°C to 29°C, with the fastest growth at 23°C, followed by 29°C, and worst at 35°C. At the same temperature of 23 °C and the same bait, females grow 34.2% faster than males. The hatchlings grew fastest at 26°C, followed by 29°C and worst at 35°C. During the turtle production process, according to the above experimental results, the author suggests that everyone should adjust the water temperature to the fastest temperature of the turtle's growth and development in order to obtain the ideal economic benefits of turtle breeding.
