Scotch Pine Large Tree Transplantation Technology and Post-plant Management

Pinus Sylvestris Var mongolic Litv is a genus of Hailarson, Mongolian red pine, evergreen coniferous tree, straight trunk, tree height up to 30 meters, diameter at breast height up to 80 centimeters, lifespan 150 to 200 years, natural in our country Located in the northern and western parts of the Greater Khingan Range, it is usually found on the upper part of the sunny slope, at the top of the ridge, or in the watershed. Scotch pine is resistant to drought, cold and strong adaptability. It is one of the major tree species in Northeast China. Because of its beautiful crown shape, vigorous foliage, tall and straight, evergreen, and rapid growth, it has gradually become an excellent landscaping tree species in northern cities in China.

Planted in 1973, it is now 16-year-old Pinus sylvestris 5.8 meters tall and 10 cm in diameter at breast height. The maximum annual growth can reach more than 40 cm.

Since 1978, Urumqi began to carry Scotch Pine trees and land ball transplants to work in the streets. They were planted in the People's Market, in front of the municipal committees, and in the “October flower beds” and other places. They have now become lively, lush, and grow gratifying, and have become a city. Pioneer tree species for greening.
First, transplantation

Pinus sylvestris 1 to 2 years old seedling rootless transplant survival easier, the survival rate of up to 90%. With the increase of seedling age, the survival rate of bare root transplantation gradually decreased. In order to ensure survival, all soil ball transplants are carried out. When the soil ball is complete or has slight cracks and looseness, the survival rate can reach 100% and the growth is good. The growth of new shoots can reach about 30 cm in that year. Earthballs were seriously scattered and most of them died. Even though they barely survived and grew poorly, the average growth of new shoots did not exceed 4 cm. The earthballs were completely broken and became bare rooted seedlings. Almost all died. To ensure the size and integrity of soil ball diameter is the key to improving the survival rate of planting. The size of the earth ball is directly related to how much the seedling root system is kept. Earthballs are too large and the more roots are preserved, the easier it is to survive. However, the earth ball is too big, which causes difficulty in dressing and transportation. The earth ball is too small and the root system is too small. Although it is easy to handle and transport, it can survive after planting. However, the growth is not good, and even if a new shoot is taken out, it is not formed. Buds extend the period of mild seedlings. The size of the earth ball is generally 8 to 9 times the trunk diameter of the trunk. Correct dressing is an important part of reducing soil ball damage. All of the Scotch pines transplanted in my area were all wrapped with rough straw ropes.

Second, planting time

Planting time has certain influence on the survival and growth of Scotch pine. Transplantation was early, the terminal buds did not germinate or just sprouted, and less nutrients were consumed during transportation. The survival rate was high and the growth was normal. After the transplant, the terminal buds grow, consume more nutrients, and are unable to continue normal growth. In addition, the top buds grow too long, young and easy to fold, affecting the shape of the future crown. Therefore, the time of transplanting Scotch Pine trees should be earlier than in spring, and it can be done after sleeping in the fall.

Third, the planting site

Wherever it is planted in sunny places, it grows robustly, with an annual growth of 15 cm or more. After the second and third year of planting, it does not show a significant period of seedling growth. Planted in the shade of flowers, the growth of up to 15 cm in the year, but the growth was significantly slowed down in the second year, even in a state of stagnant growth, the third year due to weak photosynthesis, less accumulation of nutrients, the young branches were bent down, the plants gradually In death.
Scotch pine is very fond of the sun. To ensure the robust growth of Pinus sylvestris, when choosing a site for planting, we must choose an open, sunny place.

IV. Post-plant management

The tree species is not resistant to water and moisture, and has a good permeability. The depth of planting is appropriate to just cover the earth ball, not too deep. The Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, which has a complete soil ball and died gradually after planting, is almost entirely due to over-planting and root rot. After Pinus sylvestris has been planted, it is easy to fall down and it should be fixed by standing pillars. Once enough water is poured, the water will be poured once every 15 to 20 days depending on the climate, and the soil will be loosened immediately after irrigation. New shoots stop growing to control watering. After planting and living, no fertilizer can be applied in the year, and the fertilizer can be topdressed appropriately in the second year. The time can be selected from the beginning of high growth and the stop of high growth and the beginning of coarse growth (late May and early July).
