Recently, the Insect Resistant Cotton Test Base of the Institute of Biotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences held an unveiling ceremony at Wei Taiwu Village, Xiagezhuang Town, Pinggu District. Since 2003, the base has used genetically modified technology to breed monovalent and bivalent high-quality insect-resistant cotton. Based on this, the breeding of varieties, comparison of varieties, and demonstration of high-yield cultivation experiments have been carried out. In the past two years, the base has grown to 200 acres, and more than 500 hybrid resources (strains) have been introduced and stored. The maintenance line, the sterile line, and the restoring line have been combined to provide a solid foundation for the three-line hybrid breeding. With the existing sterile and restorer lines, more than 50 strains are grouped each year. Now seven hybrid and insect resistant cotton combinations with excellent quality and yield traits have been obtained, and two insect-resistant and disease-resistant three-line hybrid cottons have been selected. New varieties. In 2003, 10,000 mu of new varieties of insect-resistant cotton were promoted in Pinggu District, and the benefit of the mu was over 1,000 yuan. At the ceremony, leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences pointed out that the construction of the base will lead China's cotton production to a higher level, and this base will also become another bright spot for seed agriculture in Pinggu District.
