The ratio of carbon to nitrogen in the initial compost should be 30 to 35:1, with 33:1 being the best. The proportion of mushroom compost and the amount of urea added should be strictly in accordance with this requirement. If there is insufficient nitrogen fertilizer, it will obviously affect the yield of mushrooms; if too much nitrogen fertilizer, it will not only cause waste, but also cause difficulty in fruiting due to the imbalance of carbon and nitrogen ratio. In a suitable range, the nitrogen content of the compost has a positive correlation with the yield.
