Atmosphere storage is generally performed in combination with mechanical refrigeration, but good results can also be obtained in crypts or ventilators where storage temperature is well controlled. Atmosphere storage requires equipment and gas conditioning methods that maintain a certain gas composition, and strict control of the gas composition in the storage environment. Now commonly used are air-conditioned storage, plastic film accounts, plastic bags, silicone rubber, such as air-conditioning window.
1 Air-conditioning storage The air-conditioned storage is based on a cold storage room with good airtight conditions. It is equipped with mechanical equipment and instruments for adjustment and determination of gas composition, temperature and humidity, and it is easy to manage and easily meets the required conditions. The effect is much higher than ordinary cold storage.
2 The large plastic film accounts are stored in a cold room or a ventilating room, etc. The plastic storage film is used to enclose the storage boxes of apples and become a simple air-conditioned storage. Film accounts generally use 0.1 ~ 0.2mm thick polyvinyl chloride film bonded into the account, the capacity is 2.5 ~ 10t. When closing the account, spread the entire plastic film at the bottom of the account, put a sleeper or brick as a mat, and put the pre-cooled apple box or basket into a draught, then cover it with a tent, and finally put the account. The bottom and the bottom edge of the bill wall are tightly rolled together, buried in a pre-ditched ditch, compacted with earth, or pressed tightly with bricks.
There are two ways to adjust the gas in the account: spontaneous tone and rapid hypoxia. When spontaneous air-conditioning is used, oxygen reduction mainly depends on the respiration of the fruit itself, lowering the O2 concentration, and increasing the CO2 concentration to achieve the role of air-conditioning. When rapid oxygen reduction is used, a part of the gas in the account is first pumped out with an aspirator so that the four walls of the account are tightly attached to the fruit basket, and then the nitrogen gas or nitrogen cylinder is used to fill the nitrogen through the aeration port to restore the account. Repeatedly several times, it can quickly reduce the oxygen in the account. For the sake of accuracy, sampling from the outlet is required to determine the 02 and CO2 content, and roughly adjust to the required standard. During the storage process, it was found that when the O2 concentration was too low, air was added and CO2 concentration was too high to be eliminated. Currently, slaked lime is used to absorb CO2, and the amount of slaked lime is generally 0.5 to 1 kg/100 kg of apples. The accounts are placed in the account from the sleeve-shaped pockets provided near the ground near the account, and then added when the hydrated lime fails.
3 Silica window gas-retention storage Silica window gas-holding storage is to set a certain area of ​​silicone rubber film on the plastic film account to make a diffusion window (simple silicon window). The permeability coefficient of CO2 and oxygen is much better than that of the silicon window. The large properties of the plastic film automatically adjust the gas composition in the storage environment. The area of ​​the silicon window needs to be determined through experiments and calculations according to the storage amount and the ratio of the required gas.
4 Plastic bags Small packages Storage Choose a polyethylene film bag with a thickness of 0.06-0.08mm, lining in a fruit basket or box, and loading apples (20 to 25kg) to secure the bag opening. Each bag constitutes a sealed storage unit. Its own respiration and permeability of the plastic film allow the oxygen and CO2 in the bag to naturally adjust within a certain range. In the case of apple varieties and storage temperature and humidity conditions, the main influence on the change of gas in the bag is the type, thickness and packing of the film. During the storage process, the gas composition in the bag should be regularly checked. If the O2 is too low or the CO2 is too high, open the bag and ventilate the bag.
